DakhaBrakha is a Ukrainian quartet formed in 2004 at Kyiv's DAKH Center for Contemporary Art. Their name, meaning "give/take" in Old Ukrainian, reflects their unique blend of Ukrainian folk music with global influences. The group consists of Marko Halanevych (vocals, percussion, various instruments), Olena Tsybulska (vocals, percussion), Iryna Kovalenko (vocals, various instruments), and Nina Harenetska (vocals, cello). Their "ethno-chaos" style fuses traditional Ukrainian melodies with rhythms and instruments from around the world. They have been honored with the Sergey Kuryokhin Prize in 2009 and the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in 2020.
